The burden of collecting water disproportionately falls on women and girls. Long and often dangerous journeys to water sources put them at risk of physical harm and sexual violence. BCI in partnership with the Schmitz Stiftung through FFB were able to finance a motorised well (hand-pump borehole) which is actually the first one in the village to be drilled so deep and can not go dry in drought conditions or after a long time.  

This necessitated the formation of a water committee for maintenance and sustainability and this will serve both the school and community. Next to the borehole is a shade, where people can wait from and actually hold conversations about the community and other matters other than standing for so long. We also put a solar light station which enables collecting of water even at night. This was majorly aimed at enabling school children work with ease and efficiency.
